Literature.

One thing I have lurved about my new job is that between calls I can read. I have read five books in three weeks cause of it. If you're trying to get a last bit of summer reading in and need some recommends, I'm your girl!

I saw the movie and loved it. The book's even better of course. If you didn't know, it's about a dashing young lad who drops out of vet school cause his parents die tragically and he joins the circus and takes care of the animals and he falls in love with the circus director's wife. SAUCY! It really is "A delightful gem" as the Denver Post so kindly describes.

Sweet mercy, such a good love story. About another dashing lad who involuntarily time travels and visits his wife throughout her life. This one had me in tears for quite a while. Uhm, can't say I recommend the movie too much. It was not too great. Except I love Rachel McAdams. Anyways, READ IT.

(These covers look the same) A classic about a super smart & successful girl who goes insane. Sylvia Plath is a poet and this is her only novel so this book has some pretty pretty writing in it. One of my favorite quotes was "I felt very still and very empty, the way the eye of a tornado must feel, moving dully along in the middle of the surrounding hullabaloo." Hullabaloo, people! So, I was really proud of myself for reading a classic.

I was in Barnes and Noble and despite the cheesey pre-teen-aimed cover I picked it up and read the back and guuurl I just had to buy it. It's about this little town in California and one day all the adults disappear. Everyone that's left is 14 and under. It's like Lord of the Flies gone wild. I'm surprised it doesn't have a bigger rep cause it's SUPER good. Couldn't put it down ya'll. And it's a 6 part series! Mercy! You bet I'll be collecting them all. My bookshelf just doesn't have the posterity for much more of this.

I've read this before. It's one of those that's so good you can always go back and read. It's based in the future and it's about a 6 year old boy who's sent to space to learn how to be a commander because there's a big space war coming and he's supposedly going to save the world. Doesn't get much nerdier than that, but it's just a huge YES. I love it. You can't go wrong. And I hear they're going to make a movie of it sometime. Make like a hipster and read it now before all the bandwagons start rolling in.

SO. Have YOU guys read any gems lately? Care to share?
