uhh

has anyone else experienced the supreme awkwardness of looking back on really old blog posts?yikes.
one of the (many, many) reasons i want to get married is so i can start a new, refreshed blog. and get rid of all of this teenagery angsty awkward baggage.
but i am grateful for it, cause i can actually see that i've changed and grown up. even if a little bit.

and hey. i really like this quote.
i like when people can write out how i feel. thanks edgar for doing that.

bowties and other great things.

these days have been full of
-sushi
-bear grylls
-double ear infections: cat edition
-staying up to record late times on school nights
-getting locked outside in blizzards
-figuring out finally how to do my hair straight
-wanting an iphone

also, don't you just love bowties? anyone looks good in a bowtie. observe.

classy boyfriend.

classy (and excruciatingly incredibly adorable) kitten.

i can't decide which picture i like better. isn't that terrible of me?
(yes, mardi. i stalked your instagram.)
if you were wondering, am i going to be putting a bowtie on my carly kitty? yes. yes i am.

catharsis at its finest.

well, me and chris went and saw breaking dawn tonight. in my defense, i didn't exactly have to drag him. he gave his consent some time ago. he thinks taylor lautner is a not very good actor. and i think. well. he makes up for it in other ways. am i right ladies? and then i thought. why is this world suddenly obsessed with vampires?! there is an entire vampire section in barnes and noble now....it's JUST WEIRD!

and now i have just finished the eragon series and i am just absolutely miserable. i mean, the ending was so perfect but so bloody sad and you know that feeling when you are about to finish a book you love and are filled with a dreadful feeling knowing it's all over soon!? and then you finish a book and you feel so empty!!?? akin to a plastic bag drifting through the wind?? no, sorry katy perry, i will never feel like that. but you know. i can't stop thinking about it and such and a tear or two sneaked their way out of my eye. i love those books. so much.
you know what. i might have to sit through the movie to placate myself. that wretched movie. i have never seen a worse book-to-movie transition. but these are desperate times.
i want somebody to re-do them. they absolutely have lord of the rings potential.

okay. enough.
now carl is burrowing around in my blankets and biting my toes. the madness never ends.

good things lately

1 CARL (the kittlet that burrows into the blankets and swims around my legs all night, and wakes me up by biting my face and/or neck and hogs the precious heating pad all to herself. we are best friends.)

2 oreo cake pops, for megan abel's bridal shower. they were good, and the shower rocked. i got free panties. yes yes yes!

4 h&m three times since opening like yeah.

5 finals approaching, which means that school is ALMOST OVER.

life is good!

just a few things.

this cracked me up:

you guyz. my history teacher is professor umbridge. listen.
first of all, she is this short stout little woman with a short haircut.
second, she is a super sweet lady, and when you answer a question she says "yeah! yeah! that's right!" like you are 5 years old but makes you feel really proud of yourself.
but oh heavens. take heed and watch your back. if she catches you talking while she is lecturing, she turns beastly. her little smile vanishes and she says something along the lines of "REALLY girls, can you be quiet please!!" really loudly, and they will stop talking, and then her little smile will pop right back on like magic and she does this creepy little giggle and goes right back to teaching. it is downright astonishing. minus, she doesn't wear freaky pink clothes, and i have seen no signs of cat fetish. but let me tell you, i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if she popped a ceramic cat figurine up on her neat little podium one of these days.

chris and i have three episodes of lost left. THREE. of the entire blasted thing. and we have had no time to just finish the deed. i am going bonkers. bonkers i tell you. ps. i love desmond, and i really hope he survives.

i miss free time. and my ginger.

and that is all that is in my head.

shed

I spotted this fellow about 2 months ago next to the sidewalk by my front porch. I've seen him in the same spot probably two other times.

This time he left a nice surprise.

In the exact same spot, next to the sidewalk. Snakes are neat. If I kept it, would that be gross?

these things are awesome

1. Wyatt downstairs laughing his head off while playing with Gary.

2. Esao Andrew's artwork. Creepy, but soooooo awesome.

3. Finishing both seasons of Arrested Development. Such a beautifully done show. I am sad.

(Lucille is my favorite.)

4. Jumping on all the circa 2007 bandwagons and starting to watch LOST.

5. I'm making these tonight.

6. READING BOOKS

7. Buying a Ratatat ticket this week like yeah.

8. Mustard colored shorts.

9. Dwight as manager.

blither blather

I was reading in Entertainment Weekly about Harry Potter part 2....so excited and so ready. It sounds like they changed up a few things at the end to make it even more intense and crazy. SPOILER ALERT like when Snape dies. Not in the Shrieking Shack. In some other place they invented that sounds neat. NICE. Oh also, did you know that Rupert Grint is an ice cream man? Hahahahahaha.

Chris and I saw Hanna and The King's Speech this weekend. Go see Hanna. Seriously. It is the strangest movie you will ever see but I LOVED IT.

Story: Last night I was craving a brownie sundae like you would not even believe. So I started to make brownies and had already added water and oil when I realized we were out of eggs. Frantically raced to Google. I read that you can use mashed up bananas as a substitute sometimes to "add moisture". So I tried it. Weirdest thing ever. The texture is so....odd. With the faintest taste of banana. Word of advice. Never do that.

Look at this and be happy:

i'm alive

I swear.
Maybe a quick update? K.
One: Chris is home.
It has been super hard, roller-coastery, insane, weird, unreal, but honestly, I am the happiest person in the world to have my best friend back. I missed all of our jokes and weirdness SO much. Along with eeeeeeverything else. We don't know what's going to happen yet, but it's all going to be okay. And one thing is certain. Distance DOES make the heart grow fonder. Truest statement in the world. Gahhh I love him.

Two: School is insane. probably 75% of why I have been so horrible at updating my poor blog. It may continue, but only for one more month. YESSS.
Three: Las Vegas/St. George for spring break was one of the best decisions the Ace Gang has ever made. So blasted fun. Every day. Maybe I'll do a post about it.
Four: I got thee raddest fishtank for my birthday. And everything I wanted. Thanks friends!! Also, I have been blasting the Tron soundtrack in my car erryday. LOVE IT.

(I love that Arthur knew I was taking a picture so he came to the glass and just sat there for me.)

Five: I got contacts. Nice. Feels like everything in my life has been sharpened like a picture in photoshop or something.
Six: Since I don't have an iPhone but a freakin' sweet Android, I got a InstaGram app knockoff. I am obsessed. I mean look at those phoetoes.

So if you've got an Android, download FxCamera. It's RAD. If you have an iPhone, get InstaGram. Even RADDER. Chris has it. We've been taking pictures of everything.

Alright. I hope you are all satisfied. xoxo

-I MISS THE GING

-Some phoe toes from this weekend.

^ Baking treats. I could see us doing this 10, 20, 30 years from now. PS Kelsey's face.

^ Stupid Corey Adams. "Okay Kelsey, look mad at the pizza. LOOK MAD AT THE PIZZA."

^ Stupid Corey Adams. Hahahaha.

^ Trying to be a sexy hot desperate housewife and supremely failing. Also realizing I forgot to put in an entire stick of butter.

^Treasuring the treasures

^ Gene freaggin Simmons tongue.

^ Being weird and embarrassing, it never ends

^ What do friends even do anymore besides bake cupcakes? These were stuffed with cookie dough, then had chocolate frosting on top. I just didn't get an after picture. HEAVEN.

I suppose this is the part where I say WOW THIS POST WAS REALLY RANDOM and
HAPPY WED-NEZ-DEE!

Lookie what I made!

Imagine the possumbilities.
Colors. Patterns. I'm super excited.

Wanna do it? Go here! How fun!

Today was a good day of gettin' lots of homework done and doin' some craffs and listenin' to the Pride and Prejudice sountrack. And reppin' the Motherland.

And this is just for fun.

I hope I manage to entertain someone with this stockpile of random.

day 12: in the bag.

I have this brown pleather bag that bought it probably 3 years ago from Forever 21 and it was exactly what I was looking for. And since then, I have tried other purses, but none compare to this one. My favorite is the over-the-shoulder strap. Shoulder strap = free hands and arms. Yes.
What's in her, you ask?
-One time I littered a small gum wrapper in a parking lot and from that moment forth Chris vowed to put every bit of trash that he possibly could find into my purse as punishment. There are still straw wrappers in there from him. And he keeps sending me paper shreds in his letters to put in there. Ridiculous.
-Camera (For all precious moments and other)
-Planner
-A nifty pouch filled with bobbies, one jillion lip glosses, chappy, girly things, a backup mascara, and hand sanitizer.
-Ibuprofen (I find myself drug dealing QUITE frequently)
-Stride green flavor gum (thee best for blowing bubbles)
-Gloves
-Keys
-Wallet
-Spare headphones
-Yellow iPod Nano

bat em, bat em good

I was at the rec center, you know, just lifting 200 pound weights with my biceps, when I looked at the telly and saw a commercial for this.

A drug, that makes your eyelashes grow?? I wonder if it really works. Check it out.

It looks like it does. And it looks natural. I'm intrigued. What a neat thing. Good ol' science. What will they think up next?

(long exasperated sigh)

For months now I have been trying to come up with some kind of theme pertaining to the issue of what this dang blog is about.
People blog about interesting things that happen to them. But my life isn't very interesting, besides Chris, but that's about to come to an end, and the interesting things don't happen often enough to solely blog about.
People blog photography. I'm not a photographer.
People just post randomly what's on their mind. I don't have time to blog like that. I forget things. And I don't want to try to be all deep and meaningful. Others do it better.
People post updates about their lives. My life is school and work. Basically.
People post meaningful and uplifting quotes. I'm not good at finding those.
People post about fashion. I looooooove clothes but....just no.
People have a blog for one specific theme, like Harry Potter. I'm not an expert on anything really.
People do crafts all the time and post how to do them. Such an awesome idea. But I don't have time.
And some people are REALLY good at getting other people involved on their blogs. Asking questions, contests, that kind of thing. I don't know if I want that.
This blog was created mostly to stay in touch with my friends that went away to college, and my friends that are grotesquely busy so that I can't catch up with them often. Pretty much all but one (go Lindsey!) have abandoned their blogs. Quite depressing.
But now I don't know what I want.
From this little blog.
SO, among all these ultra random things I'm always posting, I am going crazy wondering what the heck I'm even doing. I needed something CONSTANT!!
I'M SICK OF THIS WRITER'S BLOCK!
I've got a plan.

For starters, I'm totally doing this thing Megan Abel is doing. I've seen a couple calendar things like this and wanted to do one for a while. Here we go!

Day 01 – Introduce yourself with pictures and words
Day 02 – Your first love

Day 03 – Your parents

Day 04 – What you ate today

Day 05 – Your definition of love

Day 06 – Your day
Day 07 – Your best friend

Day 08 – A moment

Day 09 – Your beliefs
Day 10 – What you wore today

Day 11 – Your siblings

Day 12 – What’s in your bag

Day 13 – This week
Day 14 – What you wore today
Day 15 – Your dreams
Day 16 – Your first kiss
Day 17 – Your favorite memory

Day 18 – Your favorite birthday
Day 19 – Something you regret

Day 20 – This month

Day 21 – Another moment

Day 22 – Something that upsets you
Day 23 – Something that makes you feel better

Day 24 – Something that makes you cry
Day 25 – A first
Day 26 – Your fears
Day 27 – Your favorite place

Day 28 – Something that you miss

Day 29 – Your aspirations

Day 30 – One last moment

And THEN, I'm going to try to take a picture every day of the year about something I saw, heard, smelled, tasted, or touched that day. Just something. And post it. My precious blog needs nurturing. Just as you wouldn't skip feeding your kitty kat one day, my blog doesn't deserve abandonment.
STARTING TOMORROW!!
Or maybe after Chris leaves!
We'll see. But soon.

Oh and I decided on one actual New Year's Resolution that I am absolutely positively doing: keep a journal. I've been a failure at this all my life. That's gonna change kids. That's gonna change.

Happy Chris's Farewell Eve!

the 2010 in photo review.

Here's what 2010 contained.

Got Chris hooked on snowboarding/he broke his collarbone doing it.

Cut my hairs super short.

Went on a cruise and set foot in the Caribbean.

Went on Orchestra tour to SLC.

Played with a wolf.

Did Hosa Bowl. Dominated. Awesome.

Jumped on all the bandwagons and did Hare Krishna.

Learned how to grow plants via Hadfield.

Saw MUSE in concert!!!!!!

Wreaked havoc in St. Sleeze and stayed in a sweet condo with Lindsey and Hannah.

Went to pram with my lovey.

Went to Lagoon.

GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL.

Was Edward Cullen.

Saw Backstreet Boys in concert. ALRIGHT!

Saw MGMT in concert. AHHH!

Met Chris's missioning brother Andrew.

WENT TO DISNEYLAND WITH CHRIS!

Ace Gang Lake Powell senior trip with AWWLL da ladies.

Got a sweet sandal tanline, finally.

Mockingjay at midnight.

Purchased Edward!!!

Went to a fantastic witch party.

Finally saw Circa Survive in concert!

Saw Harry Potter at midnight and dressed up for once!

Hosted a fabulous Christmas party.

Started college and survived my first semester.

Fell in love with Vampire Weekend.

Fell in love with ginger a jillion times over.

So as you can see, 2010 was quite the awesome year. Probably the best one thus far. I mean really. It was wonderful.
My favorite thing all year was probably Disneyland with Chris and his family.
And also seeing Muse in concert was a huge life goal crossed off. And Lake Powell rocked. Too much good.
And I'd say my biggest accomplishment was buying a car. It was a good thing.
I am nearly positive 2011 won't be as awesome. But I am going to try.
My resolutions are the same olds, but as cliche as they are, they're still good ones: be a nicer and better person, develop an actual exercise schedule, eat better food, don't be antisocial, make more friends. Also on my list: write Chris letters at least once a week, read the Bible, get a huge chunk of my car payments paid off, and perhaps move out?
Cheers to the new year.
